Emergency Situations

Severe Weather

Severe Heat

  • Make sure fans are running throughout the day & keep them on for the night. This helps decrease the humidity and from the floors weeping. Plus it’s nice for the pups!

  • Outside time needs to be limited. You’ll notice the pups will tire out faster, so outside is really going to be for potty & that’s about it. 5-7 minute rotations, but if they are ready to go in, take them in.

  • Really keep an eye on the dogs behaviors - if they seem lethargic, are vomiting or having diarrhea, or are acting off in any way it could be heat exhaustion & we want to catch that right away!

  • We need to keep our bulldogs, big breeds, & thick coated furends in mind. It can be difficult for bulldogs to breathe in this type of heat, so their outside time needs to be potty and back inside. Our big breeds (Bernese’s, Danes, Shepherds, etc) don’t always handle heat well and are more likely to get heat exhaustion, so quick outside time is best!

  • Feel free to keep the hose on as a sprinkler or fill up the pools - just make sure to turn off the water and empty pools (and put behind the black fence) at closing.

  • PLEASE offer water at each meal to EVERY dog. This will ensure that all pups at least have access to a good amount of water since we have dogs that don’t always consume a lot in the pods.

  • For cleaning at night, please use the middle versus outside for moving pups out of pods. I know it’s not ideal, but they can’t stay outside long enough to clean a whole pod.

  • Last, but not least, don’t forget about taking care of YOU! Make sure to drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated, wear sun protection, take breaks when needed, and wear appropriate clothing for this type of heat. Hang out in the pools if you want!
